I read there were other actors considered to play Superman,such as James Caan,Robert Redford or even Clint Eastwood..Seriously,I can not see those men portraying Superman, who is really handsome,sexy, hot..I dont see those aspects in those actors at all, and it is ridicolous they thought of Clint Eastwood..Come on¡
I think Christopher was perfect and I am glad they chose him,otherwise I think I would not have watched the Superman movies with a different actor playing Clark Kent.

However I feel they casted the worst Lois Lane.I always though she is really ugly,not the pretty pin up girl from the comics.Her smile was even uglier and creepy.I never got why they chose Margot Kidder because she doesnt have the type..

Anyway they did a perfect job casting Christopher,he was a good actor and sexy as hell.He looked like the real Superman and for me Chris is much better than Henry Cavill.

I thought Margot Kidder was the perfect Lois Lane. A really good actress and had a classic Hollywood look.

Agreed. She was attractive, plucky, and had undeniable chemistry with Reeve.

I absolutely love the scene between Lois and Superman on the balcony.

"Do you like pink?"
"I like pink very much, Lois."

How anyone could deliver these line without sounding silly is beyond me, yet Kidder and Reeve do it seemingly effortlessly.

Margot Kidder's performance outdid any shortcomings she may have had physically. Personally I thought she was very attractive in the first film and the Donner footage of part II.

When theres no more room in Hollywood, remakes shall walk the Earth.

it isn't very evident in the movie, but young Margot Kidder was a very very attractive woman. i'll tell you what throws her whole look off: her hair. those awful bangs can screw everything up. if you want proof look up pictures of her. she looks 100 times better with a decent hairstyle. she even did playboy back in the 70's.

Well Tony, nobody wants a war. If we can't do business why we'll just shake hands and that'll be it!

Also, her age, her whiskey voice, her wrinkles and old hag-face.

I have hard time believing she EVER looked even mildly passable, let alone good, let alone attractive. She's clearly the worst part of these silly movies.

A Lois Lane should be attractive, not some alcoholic whiskey hag they found from under the bridge near the black swamp.

After the doll face they chose to play Lois in Superman Returns, I started to appreciate Margot Kidder more. Until then I thought she was nothing special. Not bad, but not anything special either.

Best Superman will always be Christopher Reeve as if it wasn’t for him the character wouldn’t have been so iconic. Although I do have my top 3 Superman actors
1. Christopher Reeve
2. Tom Welling - I know he didn’t play Superman as such I liked his portrayal of Clark Kent
3. Henry Cavill - the reason being he has never watched a Superman movie and he had managed certain moments in MOS that resonated with me. One scene in particular stands in my mind. He just saved Lois falling from Zod’s ship gets her on the ground. Then when he sensed his Mum in danger just flew off. To me that was Superman.
As for Lois - only got to say Margot Kidder was Lois for me as I think that she had good chemistry with Reeve. But as for my top Lois it’s always going to be Erica Durance. At first in Smallville I wasn’t convinced but towards the end she changed my mind. The worst one for me was Kate Bosworth - didn’t like her much.
The only thing that I would say about Routh is that he sounded a little like Reeve at times it was uncanny.
I would have put Cain and Hatcher on this somewhere but I’d be a little biased with saying Dean Cain because at the time when it was aired I had a massive crush on him.
So technically Reeve is the number one Superman to ever grace our screens. He is the reason I love Superman

Kate Bosworth was the worst in Superman Returns. Far too young and really not believable as this ace reporter. Parker Posey was right there, she'd been perfect as Lois Lane.

I'm on the fence about Margot Kidder, but Christopher Reeve will probably be the best Superman for all time. I just wish they would have had some better material for Superman III and IV.

You know i think Superman 4 had potential to be a great movie. It was the execution that was a problem. I think if Superman wanted get rid of nukes. Hes probably going have to take them by force. I doubt all the government are just going to just hand them over to Superman.

Some Times she's ok and sometimes not when she talks with her horsed Tired voice with those squeaks but I Liked Lana Lang Better, until Smallville Ruined the Character

Kidder was attractive, funny, and likeable as Lois Lane. Reeve was the best Superman of all time.

The OPs statement that James Caan, Robert Redford, and Clint Eastwood were not "handsome, sexy, hot" really made me laugh. I think millions of women would disagree.
