so no original soundtrack just because it was mixed in the old style????

So no original soundtrack on dvd or bluray just because it was mixes in the old style of the time when it was made???

I read that when they went back to transfer the original soundtrack to disc, they were horrified to find that the dialog moved across the front three channels instead of staying in the center and didn't know why it was mixed that way. They assumed the original mixer was experimenting. They said the soundtrack was unusable since the dialog did not stay in the center like it should and moved across the front three channels. And so the original soundtrack was completely unusable because of that. And that that's why they had to put a brand new remixed soundtrack with new sound effects and dialog on the discs. They also said there were sound effects mildly in the rear channel.

That it was just the beginning of "Dolby Stereo" so he was experimenting.

Well, I have to disagree. When reading about other movies, I read from several reputable other places that from the beginning of surround sound in movies up until and including the beginning years of "Dolby Stereo" in the movie theaters, that that was the normal way for movies that were not in mono. For the dialog to move across the front three channels
(sometimes with sound effects in the rear channel).

I even just recently bought "It Came From Outer Space 3-D" which properly kept the original 3 track soundtrack with the dialog moving across the front three channels.

But no, they won't release Superman 1978 with the original soundtrack just because the dialog moves along the front three channels instead of staying in the front center channel constantly.

Even though dialog across the front three channels was the normal way of mixing movies back then that were not monophonic movies.
