Do you think they should remake it?

This version of the book was good, but I was expecting a little more. There was a lot of events and minor yet witty characters that were cut out like Charlene Madlee and the big sheriff dude. One of my main problems with the movie was the relationship between Patty and Anton. In the book although it was impossible for them to be together, it showed Anton really cared for Patty and was interested in what she had to say. But in the movie, there didn't seem to be much chemistry between Kristy Mcnichol and Bruce Davidson. Or maybe I just need to see the movie again to get the feel of it.

I would've loved it if they kept it a little true to the book. Who would you cast if there was a remake?
