So sad

I think this short is so sad because of the way they have to part, i know the Donkey was meant to help Mary and Joseph, but i hate is when the boy and he have to say goodbye to each other, what makes it worse was the donkey was his best friend and they would never see each other again, even now makes me choke up when thinking about it.

I could have written that myself, dude! I have this story on an ancient audio tape. I also had a book, that came with the tape, but unfortuneately, it has been lost for years. I used to listen to this story all the time as a little girl, and I never was even close to crying back then. But now as a grown-up, I can hardly hold the tears back. But at least, I know I'm not the only one, who thinks this story is so sad. And actually, when I searched for this on YouTube, I found one single clip related to this. It was freaking Spanish or Portuguese, but I know the story too well to not understand what was going on. And it actually seemed like the boy and the donkey parted on a happy note. The donkey really seemed to like Joseph, and the boy just seemed to be happy to see, that Small One came to a nice home. I will still find this a very sad story though.

Yes, it's true! IMDB has reached Sweden!

So sad. I still love it though.

I know what you mean. Even when it's done on a happy note, a good-bye is still a good-bye.

As you said goodbye is still goodbye.
I am actually thought he will disobey is father request, not at purpose, only after he will encounters a dubious person (as indeed happened) but as you know he kept searching until evening came up.

And yes "I won't sell him! I won't!" scene is the most heartbreaking. Definitely one of the saddest moments in Disney history. 😢
