COMET has added it to its lineup!

I was stunned when it started! After hearing about it for a long time, I finally saw it on TCM and expected never to see it again unless TCM showed it again.

Now, here it is on COMET! That means it will be shown numerous times.

That's where I'm watching it-- what in the diggedy-doo am I looking at? I've got to keep running upstairs to help the neighbor and get food out for dinner, but I want to just sit and watch this amazing movie.

I'm getting about 80%, and I'm loving this. Maybe 'loving' is too sunshiny a word. I can't believe I've never seen it before.

I just came across it on COMET myself; never heard of it before, which is odd since I'm a big Alan Bates fan. Odd that it's on a goofy sci-fi channel, right? But then it does seem to be a pretty far out film.

I'm only catching bits of it as I do other things; I'll need to really sit down and watch the whole thing sometime. Seems to really embody the craziness of the 60s/70s tho, right?

watching it now too!

awesome old obscure flick! frikking John Hurt----so incredible

what's weird is, i feel like i may have seen this demented flick somewhere as a child....pieces of it seem familiar

wish i'd seen it from the beginning---hopefully it's on again as Comet has been playing some cool ones lately

😀

Not seeing any repeats scheduled, darn it. But COMET does seem to repeat things a lot so there's hope.

COMET isn't simply a sci-fi channel. It shows science fiction, fantasy, horror and some just plain offbeat films~an amazing array of films from as far back as the Fifties up to 2016. It definitely outdoes Sci Fi Channel AND Chiller Channel!

However, there's no way to know what will be shown. I'm too cowardly to download COMET's schedule, and the site that used to carry its schedule has been shut down. I tune it at 3 p.m., 5 p.m., 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. to check on what's to be shown; but, I'd like to know ahead of time.

They just finished showing a movie I hadn't even heard of: "The Snake Woman". Darn! I didn't have a blank tape in! I do know that COMET will show it again~when, I don't know.

I LOVE COMET=}

I'll have to check it out more often. Yes, Syfy has become a real disappointment. Wrestling, really?? Ugh.

That's a pet peeve of mine: wrestling! What a stupid thing to have on SFC!

Of course, COMET does lend some of its late-night spots to some sort of sports event; I don't know for sure what it is. But, at least they don't carry it very often.

Just this evening, I watched "Cry of the Banshee" again; earlier, I saw "The Snake Woman" for the first time, having never heard of it before. So, hooray for COMET!

I must say that Chiller Channel does seem to be trying to show a variety of movies; at least it's somewhat better than SFC.

These days, I tend to watch COZI, MeTV, THIS, and COMET, plus Turner Classic Movies of course. When not watching movies, I prefer the "retro" showings of old TV series. I would like COMET to show vintage "Doctor Who", but they seem to offer only a couple of "Stargate" series and "The Outer Limits" (revival series). Maybe someday...

I watch MeTV too. Have you checked out Decades TV? They do some cool retro stuff and show old programs quite a bit, along with an old movie now & then.

reply

As far as I know, we don't have that one on our lineup. Maybe I should check our "empty" channels. That's how I accidentally discovered GRIT and COMET.

Our cable company never lets us know about additions or when a channel will be deleted. I'm not sure they even supply any kind of channel guide; they used to do that many years ago. But, I've been in the office, and I never see a guide. This really isn't a good company, but it's better than a dish; I've never met a happy dish customer.

Some of my neighbors rave about Dish. Or is it DirecTV?? I get them mixed up. I agree about the cable companies not keeping us up to date anymore about channel line-ups. So annoying! But then I guess they almost don't know themselves what they will be from one day to the next as they negotiate with channels. I do get notices in the mail now & then regarding some new channel that's coming. I only discovered Decades, Comet, Grit and others myself while channel-surfing. Also found AXS - wow, what a cool channel for music! Great interviews and concerts (saw Depeche Mode in Berlin the other night). My favorite find was HDNET movies - wow, I never knew that existed! My cable company does have a channel list on their website and I guess I should have perused that earlier, but there are SO MANY CHANNELS these days that knowing them all is overwhelming.

Our cable is supposed to be DirecTV. So, I get confused when they tout that over cable when our cable IS that. It's all so confusing! About DMeanish: We've seen all of our neighbors have theirs removed; and, when I talked to people selling them, they'd never tell me what happens when there is a mechanical problem, what happens in winter, etc. They never had any answers.

Maybe I'll experiment by checking out the "Not Available" channels; for all I know, I'm missing something else good.

As for cable: They never alert us to channels being added or removed. That seems like such a major thing to me, but they really fail there. I hate to give up all movie channels; I've hung on to Starz and Encore, but now they're combined! Cable keeps hacking away at what we were used to having. *sigh*

Mom and I don't have any of the modern stuff, including an HD TV, so maybe we're just going to be passed by. I'll have to rely on my videotaped movies and series. Maybe someday I'll get a DVD player; right now, I can play them only on my notepad, which I just can't get around to doing.

Meanwhile, I'll keep hoping that they'll provide on-screen guides for COMET and GRIT. I'll bet that's a hopeless wish.
