One of the most underrated martial art movies of all time

The first kung-fu movie to blend with light-hearted comedy.
The movie that made Jackie Chan a star.
Nice twist ending at the end.

It also have a better story than Drunken Master 1 and 2. The Drunken Master movies have the better hook (drunk kungfu) but overall, Snake in the Eagle's Shadow has the better plot and better pacing. The fight sequences are great and it also has something other kungfu movies don't have: the master showing the student evasive techniques first to avoid getting hit.

If you understand the cantonese language, it makes the film even better because as always, things gets lost in translation and the dialogue is a large part of what makes this film great. It's kind of like when you are watching a good American movie that is dubbed in another language with english subtext, it's still a good movie, but the original is always the best as every nuance in their speech is understood.

It's a shame this movie is old (1978) and puts people off from watching it. If I ever meet Jackie Chan, this is without a doubt the first movie I will bring up in the conversation.

Snake in the Eagle's Shadow.
One of the most underrated martial arts movies of all time.
