Quality of film transference?

I would like to know everyones opinion on the film quality in terms of its visual viewing. I am asking because I had purchased a version on DVD and the film quality looks like someone copied it from a VHS tape. And so here in lies the question do the various versions that are out there, do they look a little more decent than what I have? I'm curious to find out from others.

My Region 2 Hong Kong Legends DVD version's nothing like as bad as you description suggests (allowing for the fact that the film dates back to 1978 and that Hong Kong didn't really look after film footage back then).

The HKL DVD is cropped from 2.35:1 to 1.85:1. For a decent print get the Columbia R1 or the Mei Ah R3.

The R1 Columbia is uncut. The Spanish R2 and Australian r4 versions of the Columbia disc are censored

Yeah the HKL version could have been much better, I guess it was an early release by them though, they've improved a lot since then

The picture quality was PERFECT when I saw it on television late last night.
