Fighting sound effects & martial arts films in general

Before I get to my point in the title:

I was 12 when this came out, but only just watched it (<1/2, skipped ahead) now, although, I doubt this was in US theatres. In the late 70s, I probably could've watched many martial arts films, even though there were only 7 channel options -- probably more than most, being in Chicago (3 networks, PBS & 3 independent) -- which showed many reruns from the past decade or so.

Anyway, the fighting is funny with 2 main sounds, which are either air -- like a fan -- or slapping. There is also a more obvious no-contact fight, compared to films in the last 20-something years.

The dubbing is also way off, not even so much as mouth movement, but the voice/sound is obviously not that of the actor (deepness, accent?).

Some of the fighting with Chan seemed to have his signature goofy & acrobatic style. Although, I think it had little to do with Chan at the time. He was just an actor at the time & had little input (I'm guessing).

Chan's films since then (starting with Bronx) have had his creative input into elaborate & complex fight scenes, which have been more realistic too, & without those cheesy sound effects.

All other Chan films in the last 1/4-century I rate @ 6 or higher, many at 8+.
