When was this filmed?

Not when it was released. It says 1977 and released 1978, but Richard Thomas was still on The Waltons, I believe. I've read that Richard Thomas was hurt filming a movie the summer of 1976 and I'm wondering what movie it was he was in? I don't see anything listed for 1976. He went back to being JohnBoy Sept 1976 and was using a cane during two or three episodes of season 5.

Ok, this was the movie. Just found the answer to this. Trivia:Richard Thomas broke his leg when he drove his character's motorcycle under a parade float while filming a homecoming parade scene.

Filmed in my hometown of Conway Arkansas in October of 1976. I remember this because the Major league playoffs were going on at the time between the Reds and Phillies.

The scene where he was walking down the street arguing with his girlfriend while Tom Hulce was driving a car was filmed on the street where I grew up. In fact, I missed school that day to see it. I was sitting on the front porch. They stopped the car right in front of our house. After the scene, I ran out and grabbed the beverage cups in the scene. They were a couple of cups filled with tissue and an empty coke can. I kept those in my room for a few months before my mom made me get rid of them because they were attracting ants.
