missing scenes?

Other posters have also mentioned this, so I know I’m not crazy. I vividly recall a sequence where a young, Indian boy is chased by a Sasquatch. It scared the you-know-what out of me as a kid and is one of my most vivid memories of this film. Also, another great scene has one of the trappers (I assume from the Bauman-Jessup flashback) being snuck up upon by Sasquatch and it's Shadow looms over him. That too was very creepy! Neither of these in on the DVD I just watched. Is there anyone out there who can confirm that the Bijoux version has these scenes? I'm really perplexed as to why they'd be cut from the film--there seems to be no reason for it.

I do know that many trailers were running during the initial release of the film and wonder if the sequences I remember were only in the trailers? If so, they cut the best scenes!

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same DVD you mention and the scenes you mention are not on my copy either. I remember seeing this movie in the theater and it freaked the hell out of me. The howl the creatures made stuck with me for a long time. The scene I remembered the most was the miners in the cabin being attacked. The miner looking out the window and seeing bigfoot and hearing that howl just sent chills up my spine. A great classic creature flick to say the least.

I too remember the scenes, (The little Indian boy, The Old man.) They were little stories intertwined into the movie. But I also remember during the movie JAWS that the movie would stop and a narrator would talk. (I know I'm not imagining this either!) They, of course, are not shown either. I was in grade school when SASQUATCH came out during the 70's. So, I don't really remember if this was how movies where made during that time. Or if it was a matinee kinda thing. But I digress,...Those stories/scenes should be put back in!!!!!! They were the main reason I looked for years for this movie.....SASQUATCH is an otherwise brilliant movie that still creeps me out. Whether anyone believes in Sasquatch/Bigfoot or not. This is definately a MUST SEE!!!!!!!!!

The way I remember it, the televised previews included a shot of a little indian boy kneeling in the grass and being approached, POV style (thats how i remember it). The boy looks into the camera, stupified.
Some friends and I rushed out to see the film and I couldn't wait for the story about the little indian boy. But it never happened.

This trailer, if I remeber correctly, was also psuedo-documentary style. The way I see it, somebody decided to include the indian boy story in the trailer even though that story never made it into the film.

I guess it worked. I will always wonder what happened to Little Indian Boy!

I think I saw this movie again on TV a few years ago but I'm gonna' have to check it out again.

I thought I was going mad, that I was the only one who had seen anything about this movie...!

I remember the scene from way back when I was a kid, on the trailer - I remember it was advertised as a film called 'Sasquatus' (maybe it was called this in the UK - it was nearly 20 years ago !).

Scared me senseless, but I was in a haunted hotel on holiday at the time so maybe that added to the atmosphere !

Even the thought of it now chills my blood.

The "missing scenes" were featured heavily in the TV spots that I remember seeing for this ad, and for an impressionable kid like me they were very scary. What I remember when I saw the movie theatrically is that these other stories, of the Indian boy and Jessup (as well as a shot of a guy in a private plane looking down and seeing Bigfoot moving about) were shown at the beginning of the film and were narrated by Brad Crandall, who also narrated other movies put out in this era by Sunn Classic movies, and *then* it shifted to the cut of the movie that we see on the video releases.

Eric-62-2, Your explanation seems accurate, thank you. I clearly recall the TV spots with the Indian boy and Jessup. Others have mentioned the private plane scene too, although I don’t personally recall that one. It's too bad when films are put on DVD that they're not always the same print that ran theatrically.

I'll always remember how the TV spots scared the daylights out of me as a kid though!

I have both the VCI VHS tape and the "Sasquatch Horror Collection" DVD. Neither have the scenes with the little Native American boy or a Bigfoot sneaking up behind Jessup. These scenes were definitely in the TV trailers back in 1977. I saw the movie in the theater twice, but cannot remember if those scenes were in the movie.

There also were scenes in the trailers involving (1) a plane flying over the top of a mountain/hill and they see a Bigfoot and (2) Native Americans going down a stream in a canoe and seeing a Bigfoot walking toward the woods.

The DVD on the Sasquatch Horror Collection has a better quality picture than the old VHS video. Plus, the DVD version is WIDESCREEN!

The Bijou Flix version -- which I have not seen -- shows a much longer running time than the versions I have, but who knows what's really on there?

As an aside, the best Bigfoot movie in my opinion is "The Mysterious Monsters", narrated by Peter Graves.

These threads have brought back some great memories of this film, I remember seeing it at my local cinema in Belfast with my friend when we were about 10 and it scared the brown stuff out of us.

From what I recall the first half seemed to be various stories and the Patterson footage all in a documentary style with a connecting voiceover. One of these was about an Indian boy and his mother in the woods and the boy gets chased by 'something'...the one thing that sticks in my mind is that the screen froze on a shot of the boy running away, which at the time I was quite thankful for because I was terrified that it was going to show the boy being ripped apart by the 'monster'!

This was definitely NOT just in a trailer or tv spot, because I don't ever remember seeing a trailer for this, it was the forthcoming attraction poster in the cinema foyer on a previous visit that lured in to watch this.

Thank you! I was cheated out of seeing it when it first came out. I guess I won't ever be able to see the theatrical version, but at least I get to see most of it.

There definitely were scenes in the TV trailer that didn't show up in the movie, because I remember being bewildered and a little mad when I went to the theater as a kid and didn't see them. Another scene I remember from the trailer involved people finding fossil evidence of the Sasquatches, and that didn't show up in the film, either.

I'd love to see the TV spot for this again, but it hasn't turned up on any trailer compilations that I know of.
