I think they just happened to get together on a fluke but then they kept seeing each other. Is it ever right to do this; no matter what the reason if you are married?

shareSome people make a mistake getting married to someone and become trapped. Sometimes its some organized religion's taboo about divorce and sometimes its blackmail. "I'll kill myself if you leave or I'll make sure you never see your children again" "I'll take every penny you and ever will have. You will have to live under a bridge".
I guarantee one thing, if you are trapped by someone in a loveless farce of a marriage the other person will live forever out of spite.
It's up to you about which road you take.

I guess there are some occasions where people are trapped in a loveless marriage but the characters in this film weren't.. I don't think what they did was right as it was so disrespectful to their spouses
shareThere's a certain naivete to your comment that leads me to believe you've never been divorced or even married.
There are generally a lot of deeper, more complicated reasons why people don't divorce than the two reasons you offered, in particular, "I'll kill myself if you leave" or blackmailing someone". It's a very dramatic and rather over the top assertion -a childlike perception of what goes on in a troubled marriage that is a rare exception.
I'd wager a guess that most people in developed/industrialized countries no longer feel the same pressure to stay in a loveless marriage based on Religious pressure that they did in the past. As this movie takes place in America, I assume we're looking it from that perspective.
Marriage and the ties that bind two people together over the years run deep and are not so easily and neatly severed-especially when there are children involved.
