Anybody actually seen this movie???

I read this book in class as a novel and we watched part of the movie. Now I know the book is popular (right????) but the movie was so unknown and low budget. We were lucky to get it in the school library, for they don't have it anymore at Blockbuster.
Anyone else think it's time for a remake??? I mean, I got such a great picture from reading and one day i would like to be a director, and this could be one great movie. If ya don't mix up events! But seriously, i would love to be a part of a remake.

I used to watch it over and over as a child. My father taped it off of t.v., so it was never confusing. I remember seeing the version on video and it didn't have all the parts the t.v. version had.

I recently saw it in English class after reading the book. In my opinion, it did NOT live up to the book at all. It looks like it was shot with a home video camera and it didn't capture the emotion of the story. On the positive side, at least someone attempted to bring ROT, HMC to the screen. Hopefully it will be remade in the future. Maybe even with you, marshallbmathers, as the director! ^-^

This is a really low budget movie and its badly done too. The acting is also dodgy at time and doesnt keep to the book at all. Lillian Jean the daughter of Kaleb Wallace??? The only entertaining part was seeing Morgan Freeman pop up as Uncle Hammer as he was one of the few good actors. The guy that played Papa was also quite good but all in also the film stinks

i saw it in language after reading the book, and thought is was a dumb movie. i loved the book, but the movie leaves lots to be desired. it skipped almost all of the beginning...and was out of order. it is not a movie i care to see again.

I was exactly the same. I could see it being a really good movie if it was made nowadays. They could have been so many better effects.
