In the trivia section they said how Anissa Jones was given the part of Violet but turned it down. Unless there were plans to film this movie much earlier, this can't be true. Anissa died when she was 18 in 1976, and Pretty Baby came out in 1978. If they had started shooting the movie the year before then Anissa would have already been dead.

Also, saying Melanie Griffith was given the part also doesn't make sense because she is 58 or 59 today. She would have been 20 or 21 back then, so I don't know how she could have passed for a 12 year old.

It didnt say she turned it down. It says she died before rehearsals/auditons began.

That may be true but people seem to forget Brooke had nude scenes in this. How would an 17 or 18 year old pass convincingly as a 12 year old in the nude scenes?

Maybe they were looking for an actress who looked younger than her years like Jack Wild was 15 as Dodger in Oliver when they started filming but looked about 11 years.

I don't know if you saw this film but she would have to be younger because as mentioned on here a number of times; Brooke had nude scenes. I'm not sure how an 18 year old could pass for 12 with no clothes on.

Jack Wild in Oliver didn't have any nude scenes, though. People keep forgetting that part about this movie when talking about an older actress playing the part.
