Who won the last fight?

... So Victor just lays there and the fight is over. There's no pinfall or count. He later admits he was going to lay down in this round. But unless the rules of wrestling were different back in the 40s, there was no obvious reason for the fight to be over at that point...

... But nevertheless it was over, and then Frankie boots Victor while he's down, prompting the MC to reverse the decision to a DQ win for Victor...

... But remember, it was announced as a no-rules match in the beginning, so how could there be a DQ?...

... Then the gangsters coerce the the MC to announce Frankie as the winner after all...

... Then the post-match brawl breaks out, Victor gets the better of Frankie, and the BROTHERS decide for themselves that he won the fight...

What the hell was going on??

In the book, Victor throws the match so his brothers can get along again.

The rules where, there are no rules, no time limit, looser is the man who can't continue.

Thumper really won, because he couldn't be DQ'ed, Vick took the dive and pretended he couldn't continue. When the fight was called then, that's it Thumper wins. Everything that happens after that is meaningless.

In the end the winner doesn't matter. The fact the brothers where back together, with nothing as usual, but together.

But Victor did have what it took to beat Thumper, even if he did lose technically. When Thumper was attacking his brothers, he solidly beat him, with the right motivation.
