Saw this as a child

I must have been some 10 years old, when teachers took our class to see this film. Can't understand why they thought this film would be suitable for young kids. Possibly because it's based on a fairy tale, so they figured this must be a "children's movie". I remember all the kids at the cinema were pretty horrified, but we had to endure it because it's a "children's movie".

Now I had a chance to see it again. Pretty stylish atmospheric horror movie. Great music and some cool designs. I didn't very much like the look of the monster. But let's remember that in the classic Jean Cocteau version the monster was a giant cat, which is not much better than the giant bird we have in this version.
