I saw it at Sam Goody for 6.99 on DVD. Im thinkin about buying it. Is it in English? or does it have subtitles?

reply

I didn't think it was so bad, but then I do like alot of "bad" movies. The scenery was great and I enjoyed the animal footage, a little break in the story that showed that it was a dangerous jungle. But, I did not like Ursula, she was very annoying and what was with he midget? Very weird. Also the repetitive music got a bit tiresome toward the end. I was never bored and had some really cool moments.

P.S. It is in English with no subtitles.

reply

nothing wrong with film
except for the useless animal killings
the midget was hilarious, his death was funny and same with the noise he makes
Ursula, of all actresses... but i guess she did a good job

reply

Yes! His death scene was hilarious! So were all of the punching scenes.

reply

They were not useless. It was great scenes that showed beautifully the ruthlessness of nature.

Could never understand why Keach and Andress appeared in it. I bought it several years ago from Brian Horowitz who owns Trash Palace here in Maryland. Brian unfortunately seems to have gotten out of releasing new films and gone into making his own.

First was a documentary on Jess Franco who also wrote a script for Brian, but I don't think he has ever gotten it off the ground and the doc ran into problems.

MOTCG was a horrible film, but when I wrote my first screenplay a few years ago I incorporated the missing husband plot. NO MORE ROOM IN HELL was inspired by THE WAGES OF FEAR. Instead of four tough guys driving the truckloads of nitro I had four women.

But that's another story.

reply

I didn't like it much either. Cannibal Holocaust is better.

My first viewing today and I agree, it was pretty awful. Very tame in comparison to Holocaust or Ferox, both of which are far better movies (especially the suprisingly good Holocaust).

It's going straight on eBay, maybe i'll get most of my money back.

Why the midget? Was he there purely for comic value?

reply

I have to agree that this movie was terrible! It's sad too because I usually enjoy "bad B movies". However, this movie was unwatchable. It took me a full week to get through it.

I've seen some BAD cannibal films- Deep River Savages, anyone?

reply

The worst cannibal film. I wasn't expecting good acting but some decent gore scenes. I was disappointed. On the other hand, it's a decent documentary on the wildlife of the jungle.
But as a fan of Andress, I couldn't miss this film.

reply

yeah it is awful but it has its campy charm

When there's no more room in hell, The dead will walk the earth...

reply

the movie was really boring and that lead actress is awful.

I didn't think it was that bad at all. It reminded me of some sort of proto-Indiana Jones thing, but done hilariously Italian style. Though I enjoyed this one, I'd say there is almost nothing here for a gore hound, unless the animal slayings in (the superior) Ferox and Holocaust are your bag. This story has as much in common with Romancing the Stone as it does with anything in the Italian cannibal genre.

The Blue Underground dvd also was very good and the jungle cinematography was beautiful. Sure, this isn't as good as the "real" cannibal movies or a Hollywood adventure movie, but it was pretty great fun to watch. Maybe I just like junk movies more than the average bear.

edit: the "deviant" sexuality that Martino added on the uncut dvd was ridiculous, and terribly distracting. now THAT was terrible. if you've seen it you'll know right away what I mean.
