If only the characters had different names...

...I think the movie would be much more appreciated. The silly names seem to have a way of making people label the entire film as such. And, that's such a shame! B/c it really is a darn sweet movie, with a lovely message of love. But, because of that one aspect---the characters' names---it seems that people just won't admit it.

I would love to know how people would criticize this film if the names were better---since the majority of all the bashing involves name-jokes! If only the names were different, I really think this film would have more fans---since some of them may be closeted, even now, just because of the names!

Granted that Strip is an awful character name, which led to a lot of jokes when the movie was released, but there's nothing wrong with her name. Trisha is a perfectly normal, acceptable name, short for Patricia. The only issue I might have is with the way Travolta says it.

They both should have known better than to attempt this.

I think it would have been better had Travolta been named "Scamp" and the dog "Strip."
