Yeah, I agree with ^ BOTHD, I think it is better. Maybe it seems similar because of the spooky cursed boy, and maybe also Lee Remick. I can't help feeling (though I am guessing) that the OP watched The Omen first, and that it made such an impression that a similar film was expected to develop once the spooky boy appeared. I saw this film first, so for me it was quite clearly about both telekinesis and a literal exploration of the saying 'if looks could kill'. As such, the film's appeal is more inclusive than that of the scripture-based 'Omen'.
There is obviously some discussion of God, but it doesn't have the same Biblical baggage (or the audience's fatalistic expectations). If you watched it after 'The Omen', I imagine it might seem like a weaker version (having less obvious horror/effects), but I think the more restrained approach works better here, because the story is actually more interesting.
It does share a common feel. It definitely exploits the omen's popularity with its type of scares and tension.
I like the fact that it's still left ambiguous, at least to me, if Morlar causes the disasters or if is just prescient of them.
I think The Omen is superior though. The Medusa Touch could have done with another rewrite to make some of the characters behaviour follow some kind of logic. Lee Remick's character committing suicide for instance. It's tragic but I didn't really buy it.
Although, having said that, perhaps that ambiguity would be lessened if it was all too well tied up
Same leading lady, same time period/same filming style.
