Ventura (french police officer) investigating in GB??

Hi folks,
it's been a long time since I watched this movie (which impressed me quite a lot) - and I haven't got it on DVD or VHS; so please can you explain the following detail:
Ventura plays a French Police officer, doesn't he? So, how did he come to investigate on British territory? Or was he on holiday in England when he got involved in the case, without any official capacity? I can't remember how this part of the story was told.
Strange...
Be that as it may be, Medusa Touch is one of the best Horror Movies I've ever seen. And it has NO Happy End, I think... :-)

I'm not sure, but I assumed he was part of the Yard. I do know this movie was a joint British/French collaboration and that was why there was the guy with a French accent.

His Frenchness was absolutely unnecessary and an annoying distraction throughout the movie... more so than Lee Remick's vampire-like eyes. Overall, those two things and the lack of an adequate justification for the telekinetic phenomenon led me to give this movie an average rating.

Hello questar,
thank you very much for your reply. (I already thought nobody would care to answer my silly question... )
Kind regards

There is a brief mention early on that it's part of an exchange programme and that a British detective is currently working in France.
The point isn't dwelt upon. Best not to really - given the real GB-French co-production reason.
Anyway, it seems churlish to complain about Lino Ventura's presence in anything, however implausible.
