Deserves....

It deserves to be classified as a very strong prison film,together with the genre masterpieces.It succeeds in linking society corruption and prison corruption effectively,by showing that the former brought the hero at the mercy of the latter.Had it not been limited as a low budget B movie,it would become as famous as Cool Hand Luke,Midnight express and other classics.George Kennedy's performance(and especially his final scene)is a direct reference to Cool Hand's ''Dogboy''.It certainly deserves to be watched and try to find the widescreen version,it's worth it.
