Manitou defeated by white man's magic manitous

Did everyone miss the superb twist at the end where 400-year old, supreme manitou, Misquimacas, meets defeat?

Tony Curtis and Michael Ansara call up every Indian manitou they can think of and cannot match the evil Misquimacas' overwhelming mystic power.

But at the end, the brave duo inadvertently summon up the "machine manitous", creations of the white man, to defeat Misquimacas, who had no previous experience with machine manitous. I really loved this ironic cultural twist.

"The Manitou" is a dated horror/sci-fi flick, but still enjoyable to watch and therefore enjoys cult fave status.

Can't wait to catch the rest of this. Only saw the first half jour so far, and that was on this very day before I had to leave for work. I was reviewing films back when THE MANITOU first came out, but somehow missed this drive-in
beauty all these years, until now. The "old lady" falling down the stairs, with her head intentionally taking out almost every post in the wooden railing, and Curtis bopping in his too-tight jeans to a godawful disco tune emanating from a stereo receiver the size of a regulation PGA golf course, just drew me right in.

I loved the doctor's office that looked like a '70s crash pad.

Well it makes sense, after all the white man did win the first time around with the indians, and the spirit was no match for technology........

I don't even believe there is a moon! It's all a scam. It's just a big picture glued to the sky dome that is around the Earth.

In the original ending of the novel, Misquamacus was defeated by venereal disease (his victim had it). The author's editor didn't like that ending and made him change it, which I think is a shame because I thought the ending featuring machine manitous was pretty silly, and it was made even more silly in this stupid movie.

I made a joke a while back earlier based on the movie version. But has Misquamacus had to deal with Manitou's of modern technology in the more recent sequel books?

I can't even remember how they defeated him (and now his sons) in the Manitou books that follow. The Manitou series is just so silly.
