How did Magic end?

Fats talks Corky into killing Peggy. He goes up to kill her but leaves her a heart instead, because he can't do it. So he goes back to the cabin, and has the conversation with Fats that is something along the lines of...
Fats: I know this sounds weird because I don't have a stomach, but my stomach hurts
then Corky moves his had, and he stabbed himself instead of Peggy. Then Fats says: I think we're dieing. I hope I go first.

Then Corky crawls over to where Fats is and they die. After that, you see peggy running down the hill towards the cabin with the wooden heart, because she changed her him....THE END

Fats turned into a "Chucky" type being and raped Ann Margeret at knife-point, whilst Corkey was forced to watch.

Peggy and Corky run away together, stuffing Fats into a suitcase.
Their car breaks down in Colorado and they're forced to spend a week trapped in a hut in mid-winter.
As Corky goes out searching for rabbits to eat, Peggy, drozen numb by the cold, decides to use Fats as firewood.
When Corky returns (without rabbits), Peggy admits to him what she's done.
Corky looks at her, opens his mouth, and says "never mind, Peg, I've just thought of something I can eat after all"

Peggy doesn't know whether to be more horrified by the thought of being the victim of a cannibal (ha! so that's where they got the idea for Hannibal Lecter from)....

....or the fact Corky says all this in Fats's voice.
