Just watched this film and noticed that the last line Peggy speaks doesn't sync to her lips. Prior to tossing the wooden heart into the air, she says (in the dummy's voice), "You may not get the *beep* tomorrow". That's nothing near what the lips movement suggest she's saying. Anybody else see this? Anybody know what she's actually saying?
Funny or not, a key aspect of ventriloquism is to make you believe the object is actually saying the words you hear; if you don't, then the trick's totally lost. This was lost on me and spoiled the ending. I'd like to know what was actually said. Anybody?
I think that it just shows that there was something not quite right with her as well. She must have felt how troubled Corky really was, but was leaving with him anyway? I don't know if the dubbed lines coincide with what we hear or not, but in a way it is irrelevant.
"You may not get this *beep* tomorrow" is what is said and is also what her mouth moves to. When they filmed it, she spoke normally. The director then had her try to perform the line as if she was voicing a dummy and they dubbed that into the film. That was a horrible mistake and they ruined the final scene by doing it.
That is completely false. She wasn't trying to not move her mouth, she spoke the line normally in that take and then they dubbed in her trying to do the high voice.
