Dreadful casting

Edward Herrmann as Lou Gehrig??? How about Nathan Lane as Babe Ruth?? Too bad Wally Cox never played Jack Dempsey.

Why do you consider this dreadful casting? I thought Hermann was good in the role, and I loved the chemistry between him and Blythe Danner.
