Does Neil Diamond say...?

It's been a few years since I've had the pleasure to see this, but if I remember correctly, Neil Diamond, prior to performing, announces to the audience, "I'm going to do one song, BUT I'M going to do it good." I still laugh about that line. Maybe I misheard him.

He did say it. It's not on the dvd but is on the CD

AND - He Did It Good! He wasn't the only guy wearin' a polyester suit and Dry Your Eyes is a danm good song! Sums up the sentiment of the whole Last Waltz.

Also in the commentary for the DVD Ronnie Hawkins tells the story that Neil Diamond told him, "I'm gonna do one song, but I'm gonna do it good" before the show. Apparently it was his mantra for the night.

Reportedly, when Diamond came off stage he remarked to Dylan, "Follow that", to which Dylan responded, "What do I have to do, go on stage and fall asleep?"

Made me laugh when I read that.

I've heard the "follow that" story. Neil's explanation is that he had been talking/joking around with Dylan before he went on. When he finished, he was kidding around when he said that to Bob. I guess even if Neil isn't as arrogant as we'd like to think, Bob still had a great response.
