MST3k edit? -- Why did CIA man visit Keenan Wynn?

The MST3k version is the only one I've seen, and I wodner if the scene where the CIA agent visits the Colonel was edited down to make the movie even _more_ incomprehensible. Considering Wynn's character was babling about Project Sanddrift or something like that when we first see him, and I wonder if he knew more than he let on about what was happening...
