Why didn't they subtitle the alien's speech?

Since the first time I saw this, I can't help wondering why they didn't subtitle the alien's speech.

I can understand if it's just a couple lines, but the aliens hold entire conversations with no subtitles. What's the point of having scenes where nobody can understand the dialog?

Was this just an oversight, like they lost the subtitles and didn't have time to re-do them? Or was it intended to be this way?

There's really no NEED for translations.

You can pretty much infer what the aliens are talking about. It's pretty clear the alien commander was berating the other two for leaving behind the gun and ordered them to go back for it.

You can pretty much figure out what's going on in a Godzilla movie too, but they still get dubbed/subbed.

It just seems sloppy to have entire scenes of dialog that nobody can understand.

Who cares? Nobody but you. Of all the complaints about the movie uttered on this board, you're just about the only one who thinks this is an issue.

Godzilla movies get dubbed because the whole movie requires it. These scenes do not.

You CAN understand whats going on without them just fine. Anyone with the deductive reasoning higher than that of a house plant can get the jist what theyre talking about without a damn translation. Do you need your hand held for everything?

Other movies have passed on translating alien speech and foreign language snippets
.
The whole damn movie was sloppy. These scenes were the absolute LEAST of the movie's problems.

Because if they translated what the aliens said the movie would be rated R instead of PG

Fun Fact, the Alien Speech was sampled in a Rob Zombie song in their album Hell Billy Deluxe. I forget which song.

Godzilla wailing at baby godzilla or mothra never gets translated. Whoever said that is a liar.

Could be any number of reasons. Maybe it was because they figured their actions would be enough. Maybe subtitles cost extra. Maybe to further the illusion of seeing something truly alien would mean not understanding it.

It would have been neat, though. Especially if they explained the film's opening sequence.
