TWO AND HALF STARS?
Maltin...what the hell were you thinking?
sharethat's a hard one to grasp huh? LOL
share...and my opinion of Maltin was changed forever.
sharePretty laughable, though in Maltin's defence, he's actually just the General Editor of that guide and may not have written that actual review himself. He's got about 15 "contributing editors" who write a number of the reviews.
Still, the idea that ANYONE could give this 2.5 stars is pretty nuts.

I loved the part at the end when they were reading the guide and comparing Laserblast to other movies that had gotten the same rating - or even lower ones. Some of them were just jaw dropping. For example, Laserblast was a better movie than The Name of the Rose! I love The Name of the Rose! Maltin, you and your editors have a lot ot answer for.
shareI loved that too. Still can't believe his guide gave Blade Runner one and a half either! Blade Runner... Not as good as Laserblast!

I have to give the man applause for having a sense of humor, however. The fact that he was one of the few guest stars on the show(on the ep Gorgo) so that he could help Pearl find the worst movie ever to show them...I laughed pretty hard at that.
shareTo be fair, Blade Runner wasn't appreciated AT ALL back when it was first released. It really gained popularity some 5-7 years after its release.
shareI agree. That two and a half star rating is way too low. Maltin should have given this wondrous work of exceptionally perfect cinematic art four stars instead.
1,000 mini-bios and I feel like I'm just getting started
Maltin was prescient. He originally gave the movie 1 star, yet somehow he KNEW that the MST3K treatment would be worth 4 stars. Average rating: 2.5 stars.
shareEvery bit as good as Willy Wonka and the Chololate Factory (And marginally better than both Fight Club AND Memento)
shareLaserblast 2/10
MST3K riffs 9/10
