Though amazon, etc., doesn't sell the BBC Shakepeare series individually, all the titles are available individually directly from Ambrose. The BBC versions of the history plays are uneven in quality (as of course are the plays themselves). RIII is disappointing, for instance. The strongest are Richard II and Henry IV pts. 1 and 2. Derek Jacobi's RII is excellent as would be expected from him, though he's an odd casting choice for the role and personally I don't agree with all of his acting choices. His Richard is a bit more unstable, a bit less the bad king who should have been a poet, than I'd prefer. But it's Jon Finch's performance, sustained through these three plays, that is their consistent strength. Anthony Quaile is also a wonderful Falstaff in the two Henry IV plays. These three do cost over a hundred dollars individually, but being on a budget I bought them piecemeal as I could. They're the only three of the history series I'd want to watch repeatedly and show friends. Of the comedies, Measure for Measure is superb, by the way.
