'Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park' vs. 'Detroit Rock City'

Tough call, isn't it?

Truthfully, as much as I like DRC, I'd have to go with Phantom.

I have done reviews here for both flicks. DCR, I feel, has way too much R-rated humor, and proving even moreso that Gene isn't the genius he thinks he is, that flick was released as an "R" full of gross and nasty humor, killing most of their potential audience. There's no reason whatsoever for "Detroit Rock City" to have all that "R-rated" stuff in it. What could have been a fun "road" romp, instead just comes across as a rude and crude excursion with four jerks, only one of which is even truly likable and symphathetic. What a waste, what a shame.

And making one of the "heroes" of the film a guy that wants to beat up little kids and steal their tickets? Another great move.

"Phantom" may not be as well-made as DRC (which does shove the 70's pop references down your throat a bit much at times) but it's a totally fun film, and actually not "quite" as bad as it's made out to be in some of the scenes. It's a lot more fun now than it was 28 years ago because of the "kitsch" level, but it is a blast nonetheless, and anyone can watch it.

I still like DRC because it does have some cool stuff in it, but given a choice, for fun movie viewing, "Phantom" blows it away.

Hell, I prefer the video KISS did for "Rock & Roll All Nite" which featured the cast of "That 70's Show"
(mmmm...Donna. Tall + redheaded? Hell yeah!)

Runner up is a music vid they did in the early 90s where it starts off in "the late 70s" as Paul & Gene are putting on their makeup & getting ready for the show. It flashes forward to them doing the song "in the present" before flashing back to them walking out of their dressing room in full battle gear. Funny thing is that, at the time, they were asked in one guitar mag if they'd consider putting the makeup back on & both Paul & Gene flatly refused saying they'd "hate to revisit the past".

I guess nobody had given them a makeup tour earning estimate, lol.

That was "Rise To It." There were all sorts of rumors floating around that it would happen at that time. Too bad it didn't, because Ace and Peter would've been 5 years younger in 1990 than they were when it really happened.
