Horrible sequel to a great film

In the words of Roger Ebert: "I hated, hated, hated this movie." Uninteresting, pointless, predictable. Those last two sentences express how I felt about "Jaws 2". I try to avoid using the word "boring" in my writing but I am forced to use it here: this is a boring movie. Dreadfully and painfully boring. It is strange to me how a brilliant film such as "Jaws" could have such a bad sequel. But this movie shows how possible it is. Not only was it uninteresting, but it was incredibly predicable. In my mind (or sometimes out loud), I would say what would happen next and, by golly, I was right almost the entire time. And to make it even worse, the story line was unoriginal. Based on what you know from the first one, it is a given that there will be shark attacks. But all that consists of the story is a group of rebellious kids who decide to go sailing and...well I'm sure you can guess what happens next. Without the talents of Steven Spielberg and Richard Dreyfuss, this movie suffers greatly. The only part of this movie that was even relatively interesting was the ending, which I am not going to give away in case, for some reason, you do end up seeing this film.

It's a solid (albeit unnecessary) sequel to one of the best films ever made. It wasn't great but was still competently made and had some decent scares, which is more than what can be said for the latter two sequels.

Utter nonsense!

Don't eat the whole ones! Those are for the guests. 🍪

I don't know how horrible it is, but it was bound to miss the original by light years, which it did. The Kids In Danger were sometimes embarrassing, and so was the formerly likable Hendrix, who was transformed into a grouchy ogre, yelling at his elderly assistant on the boat. To say it's not the same calibre as the Spielberg film is to make an understatement of remarkable proportions. It's a middle-of-the-road summer movie about a killer shark and its only saving points are its wonderful photography and the ever-great Roy Scheider.

After having seen this film last night for the first time in over 25 years, and very much forgotten the film as a whole, I was very underwhelmed. Even though I wasn't expecting it to be in anyway as good as the original, this sequel was disappointing in pretty much every aspect.

these is nothing wrong with this film. you couldn't ask for a better continuation of the original.

Other opinions are available.

I thought that this was a very good sequel to an excellent movie. A pretty decent story. Some nice scare scenes with the shark. The action and suspense work well. Overall, a fine effort from director Jeannot Szwarc.

As for Jaws The Revenge, now that's a movie deserving the this accolade.

You can't palm off a second-rater on me. You gotta remember I was in the pink!

Its got its moments, but yeah Jaws 2 isn't a good film. Especially compared to its predecessor.
