so when did the copy Matthew

when it was hiding under the wooden thing when they were looking for him, was it because he naturally fell asleep and if so was he found or did some make a copy because he knew he fell asleep

did the dude who had the torch find him?, I am confused

The guy with the flashlight shined the light right into Matthew's eyes when he looked under the pier Matthew was hiding under, it was obvious he was captured then.

He was different after that. Not saying anything and had hollow eyes.

it's implied that at some point under the boards Matthew fell asleep and was duplicated.
