Robert Hays was too goofy and mousy looking to be believable as Morgan Fairchild's boyfriend....and it showed! She's so beautiful and he's so wimpy. The two looked ridiculous together and shared no chemistry between them. The studio should have hired a better looking and hunky guy for the part.
shareI agree that he was too goofy. I do think his character was a horny twit-ball, and I think Jennifer knew this...and that was why she chose him: He was desperate, lusted after her, and could be easily manipulated by her.

Lot of things in this movie didn't quite make sense. Most of all Kay Lenz, while a very good actress, was waaay too hot for this role. It was hard to believe her getting picked on for her looks. The Carrie remake had the same casting problem with Chloe Moretz.
