Avoid DVD introduction by Richard Linklater

The introduction on the region 1 DVD of this by Richard Linklater is terrible. It's boring, unrehearsed, narcissitic, and very dull, and it brings nothing to the discussion about the film.

I rather liked it. It's not as good as, say Todd Haynes intro of "Ali", but I'm glad I listened to it.

reply

I liked it just because I get to hear Linklater talk about film. True, it doesn't add a whole lot to the discussion, but because it had had such an influence on him, I find it appropriate that he should share his appreciation of the film. From the video, he seems like a guy who would be great to just sit down and talk about movies with.

I would, however, recommend waiting to watch it until one has watched the film. I think it spoils too much.

reply

I liked it too.

It also spoils the ending of not just this film, but another as well.
