Wow, possibly the worst across-the-board acting I've ever seen.

Zemeckis's early projects certainly don't show a talent for casting-- or comedy. Everybody here is ridiculously over the top in a way that just doesn't work. This was a great idea for a movie, but just like 1941, it suffers from terrible acting, mostly unsympathetic characters, unfunny slapstick, and more unnecessary SHOUTING from everyone than is useful.

The war is not meant to be won... it is meant to be continuous.

I would say you are in the minority with that opinion. The acting was great, laugh a minute, best movie about The Beatles I've ever seen.
A must see for any fan.

reply

Agreed. I think the movie is terrific, and that all the actors did a great job with their roles, especially Wendie Jo Sperber and Eddie Deezen. This movie's so much fun to watch.

some people don't understand slapstick.

Definitely best movie, from a Beatlemaniac's perspective. Every moment is right on to how it was in Feb. 1964! It was a crazy time, we loved enjoying!

i think the acting is great, and i don't find rhe characters at all unsympathetic. i think the film captures the delightful craziness of beatlemania perfectly.

Re-watched the film the other night and had the exact OPPOSITE reaction. I thought Zemeckis showed a genuine ability to get nice performances out of his young cast. Very smooth work with all of the actors and a definite gift for comic pacing. This is really a wonderful film on all levels-writing, acting and direction.

I have to disagree with the OP.

It's that man again!!

reply

Me too, this movie is a lot of fun to watch!

reply

The acting is fine, apart from Eddie Deezen who is about as funny as AIDS.

reply

Coleman Francis's movies have the worst acting in a movie that got some kind of release in theaters.
