Kinda stupid

Saw this when I was 17 & it scared me, now I'm 52 and I think it is just a waste of film. Here's why
~none of them could act especially during the rape scenes
~why did they send the mentally challenged guy to kill her instead of one of the guys who thought they were so macho doing it?
~why did the dumbass girl stay at the cabin after being attacked instead of packing up & leaving? She also never went to a doctor or the police.
~why did she get back out there in the hammock again where they could ride by in the boat & look at her?
~no woman who'd just been raped would have sex with anyone again that soon especially with one or more of her rapists!
~I can see why the slow guy would think she wanted him & get lured in to get killed, but why did the other guy really think she wanted to take a bath & have sex with him?
~no woman her size would have the strength to pull a man up like that with a rope especially with no gloves. It would've cut her hands up!
~why did the guy hold onto the boat motor? Did he not know what would happen when she cranked it up? Then he just kept holding on watching her crank it!! What an idiot.
~she went to the church to ask for forgiveness before she killed them. Sorry, that is premeditated even to God. He forgives sincere prayers for forgiveness after someone has done something & are truly remorseful!

This movie would've been so much better if she had left and then come back to stalk & kill them without them knowing she was back!

I'm not sure if she was aware Matthew was sent in to kill her,if not, yes she should have appeared to leave & come back t get 'em.

I agree that the men were a little uneven with their performances at times, but Camille Keaton was great and very believable. I think she chose not to go to the doctor or the police because she didn't want the criminal justice system to get revenge for her, she wanted to do it herself. No punishment the law could give these men would be strong enough so rather than go to the cops, she decided to take justice into her own hands. As for luring the man in for the bath, he was a total sleazeball and genuinely believed she wanted him all along and was leading him on with her choice of wardrobe and politeness towards them. He also thought he was irresistible to women and Jennifer knew that so she decided to play along and pretend to use it against him. As for the rest, different people do different things. Just because certain decisions don't seem logical to you personally doesn't mean that no one on Earth would do them. People are confusing and do things that don't make sense all the time so I don't understand why people use characters' poor decisions as a flaw against this film or any other. I think you're just nit-picking and looking for flaws. If you look for flaws in everything, you'll surely find them.

Why watch movies if you only expect your observations of the real world be presented and all characters to act like you would?

Which movies do you like? Just curious. I admit I like awful movies.
I should watch some that other people liked.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

I was looking for a comment about how stupid the hanging scene was.It defies the law of physics to pull something or someone heavier than you on a pulley. The most that could happen is you'd climb the rope, not to mention all the friction from the bark on the tree branch.

I do believe that pulling on something with your upper body strength and arms while using your weight equals more than dead weight. Yes on a pulley with 2 things of equal weight there should be no movement but there are other factors.

I liked how Jennifer handled her business in the afterword of what those guys did to her, and I agree with ElectricWarlock that human beings aren't predictable and don't always make decision which make sense to us all. In the framework of the film, Jennifer sticking around and dispatching of the guys seems fine to me, and they were spooked by the fact that she was still alive AND that she stuck around; none of them could've been prepared for that, which seemed to be phase 1 of Jennifer's plan. Brutal film to watch during the rape scene, but I LOVE the payoff.

Exactly. 👆

People do stupid and unpredictable things all the time, and even more often under stress.
