chances for a special edition dvd?

i was just wondering if anybody else thought that there were any chances that this movie will ever get a special edition dvd release.

i know that there are several deleted scenes that can be seen in most tv airings, which would be great to have included on the dvd. also, hal needham has done several commentaries for some of his other movies and i would love to hear his thoughts on the making of this film. i have seen numerous shows on tv about hollywood's greatest stunts and the smokestack scene is always included, and maxim magazine even rated it as one of the most dangerous car stunts ever filmed. it would be great to see a documentary showing the planning involved to pull off such an amazing stunt.

hopefully, after the remake of smokey and the bandit along with the deluxe dvd of the original comes out, hooper will get the dvd release it deserves.

My guess is that the chances are bad, but I'd buy it. I can't even find this in widescreen.

Another thing I'd like to see in these special editions is the real original soundtrack. This and a couple other Burt Reynolds movies seem to make it to DVD obviously edited down from an R to a PG as far as language goes. Sometimes even nonsensically, the offending word being used unedited several other times in the movie. Just every once in awhile something else is dubbed over. Dunno why it bugs me, but it does.
