Was reading their bios here, and wondered how they got along on the set, seeing as Warden was a combat veteren of the Battle of the Bulge, who lost many friends, no doubt, and Mason, a pacifist who declined military service. Interesting paradox...BTW, Jack Warden was great and so was James Mason!

They both also co-starred in Lumet's The Verdict, but as I remember in that one they also didn't share too much screentime together.

I didn't know about James Mason's pacifist beliefs but it is interesting that in his career he played quite a number of military characters, including some Germans.
