Jeannie C. Riley cameo

Doesn't anyone think that Jeannie C. Riley shouldn't have had a cameo in this movie? Where part could she have played?

reply

It would have been nice but that sort of surprise cameo wasn't really done in movies of the late 1970's, also not many people would have remembered what Jeannie C. Riley looked like given she never had another big pop hit after this 1968 sensation and hadn't had another country hit since 1973 or so. Too, she was for many years ambivalent about the song and resented it and believed it tagged her as a singer of "sexy" or novelty songs. It wasn't until the early 1980's she embraced it fully and realized what an acomplishment and feather in her cap it was for her.

Maybe she should have played the lad-not that I'm criticising Barbara Eden. Just saw this on YouTube and loved it-real warm feelgood movie about a dream woman come true. Mystery-how could Bobby Taylor really believe that the gorgeous Stella would be interested in him?

She later became a born-again Christian so I don't think she wanted any part of it. I remember her saying at the time that maybe Barbara Eden will now take on that trampy image and people won't associate her with it anymore.
