Is anyone else watching the marathon on AMC?

This year, AMC is opening their FearFest with our dear friend, Michael Myers. It's a fun rarity. The Halloween marathons don't usually come until the second week of October. I've been watching the movies for a few hours. This is a great way to begin the season.

Used to watch them every year when I was younger. Used to be the week of Halloween when the movies would air.

Thank you, Sidha108. I remember that.

Sucks that Halloween II & III aren’t being shown on AMC this year.

Thank you, Scape. I have no complaint because I hate both movies. My problems with part three don't include the absence of Michael Myers but are the unbearable sights of the children's deaths, the grating commercial, and the blindness of every parent in town. Part two alternates between being much too clinical and presenting the chase on the street as aimless. The hospital removes the suspense, and what Michael Myers does to the nurse is one of the most disgusting murders in cinematic history. The forced nature behind Halloween II is painfully obvious. It's a cheap and uncomfortable tag on the original film.

I love Halloween II & enjoy part III. Love Dean Cundey’s cinematography. Love John Carpenter’s film score/music. Love the hospital setting in part II. The first three all flow together from a film making standpoint since those are the ones John Carpenter & his crew were involved in. So all three have a similar feel. Also like how part II flows from part I so seamlessly, like one long movie.

It’s the sequels after 3 that I never really cared for. Part IV isn’t so bad, but the rest are. To each their own though.

Which nurse?

The scalpel to the back, boiling water to the face or syringe of air to the brain?

reply

Thank you, Hans-Wilhelm. The second one. I have forgotten about the other two, which are a bit bothersome. It's revolting to see a woman's skin being melted and then remaining in water in giant portions. The scene is extremely uncomfortable and nothing like a slashing, which is fun.

I posted somewhere on one of these boards last year that Fear Fest should be all 31 days of October. Never understood why they only ran it for half the month. They run Christmas movies starting Thanksgiving for a whole month so why can't they do it for Halloween?
Maybe those morons read one of those threads and realized I was a genius.

Thank you, MinorityRules15. I also thought that the original FearFest was much too short. It was great that AMC finally decided to observe the whole Halloween season.

Nah, too many commercials

Thank you, millsey72. AMC is notorious for extensive commercials and moving in to breaks at odd times. Those can be a bit annoying, especially if you're watching favorites or trying to follow something new. However, I easily forgive both because in this era, it's very valuable to have a television network that still airs seasonal classics. Today so many things are limited to computers and the internet, which is ruining beloved traditions.

reply

I don't have a forgiving nature when it comes to the number of commercials on network channels. Thats why I will continue to DVR any show I want to watch so I can fast forward thru all commercials.

Did AMC have those 2 snowflakes complaining how offensive Halloween 1978 is for it's lack of derpversity? That's what AMC did last year.
