Camera work
Anyone else really enjoy the shots in this film? I love films like this, where the director can carry the story without the over use of special effects.

shareBeautiful camera work.
shareFor a $300.000 movie Halloween is exceptionally beautifully shot...
shareGoes to show you don’t need money when you have talent.
shareThey used $70,000 for Panavision cameras and Panaglide camera stabilizer.

Dean Cundey was the cinematographer for Halloween. He worked on quite a few John Carpenter movies.
He also shot the Back to the Future trilogy as well as many other movies including Jurassic Park.
Dean Cundey is a great cinematographer. That's why Halloween is well shot.
shareYes, except for the opening murder sequence. It bugs me every time that, given his perspective of the kitchen and the dining table, Michael appears to be 6 feet tall.
shareIt was actually Debra Hill in the "perspective" shot. It was her hand reaching for the clown mask in the opening scene. I agree that Michael seems to be 6 feet tall from this perspective.
shareI believe most of the budget went to the camera rental
shareYeah. JC insisted on the best gear and the best processing for the film. Makes it look a million bucks rather than a hundred grand, which is effectively what they had left over to make the film with after paying Panavision. And even then they had to shoot fast and with only a handful of lights.
