Is Michael Overpowered?

Especially compared to the other horror characters? I love all these movies but hes not Jason or Freddy, hes still living and just has an evil soul? If i m not mistaken Danny McBride said the 2018 movie would have a more real Michael, but he still takes a lot of damage just like all the movies. Just a thought

Overpowered for what? It's not a video game. It's a horror film.

reply

I know and op isn't exclusive to games. People bring it up in comics and anime.
Even Star Wars that was asked with the trilogy and Luke himself
That's why i m asking if Michael is overpowered

reply

It doesn't belong in horror movies.

reply

I think it does with Michael compared to other horror characters

reply

It really doesn't. You're supposed to be terrified.

reply

Yes but michael isn't a zombie,a man burned alive, a killer trapped in a doll,a psychotic masked movie fan or part of a group of monsters with a magical cube

reply

What is he then?

reply

An evil soul that's it apparently

Halloween came out before all the other films you cite. Michael Myers is the OG so he gets to be as over powered as he wants.

reply

For the time sure, but these characters can be explained stat wise other than just being a living soul of evil

That's all he needs to be. He's the Boogeyman, and that's what makes him terrifying.
There's no defining the Boogeyman....he just is.

People keep wanting to define MM. What set him off....what drives him....what's his backstory?
Heck, one poster even suggested it would be cool to see a backstory w/ MM in court...being tried for his murders!

The more we try and humanize and explain him...the less mysterious and scary he becomes. That's why the first film was so brilliant....back when he was just a pale, soulless shape in the shadows. Now....MM has an action figure, you can buy his mask....heck, Rob Zombie even showed us his childhood and family life!

There was a mystique to MM....which set him way above the Freddy Kreugers and Jasons and Chuckies of the horror film universe. And with each new sequel and reboot, that mystique gets more and more watered down. In the first film, he donned the mask and stole some coveralls to wear. Now....it has become his costume of choice (like superman always wears the blue and red get-up).

We've taken what once was that scary being under your bed...and put him on a lunchbox.
The first film is a masterpiece. Anything after the first sequel is a shame.
