John "Half-Woke" Carpenter

While John Carpenter did go with the classic cliche of the "straight white cisgender male" killer, thus portraying all white males as psychotic killers, he had a strong female character in Laurie Strode. Laurie was able to fight with Michael and hold her own. This was very woke.

But, at the end Carpenter had another straight white cisgender male (Loomis) fire the gun into another straight white cisgender male (Michael). Classic example of the man having to come in and finish the job that the woman wasn't capable of finishing herself. This is not woke. Laurie should've been the one to shoot Michael at the end. Maybe Loomis could've given her shooting lessons instead of him joking that someone gave Michael driving lessons.

Thus, Carpenter is half-woke. His heart was in the right place, but he fell right back into the same old boring cliche by the end of the movie.

Michael had no sexuality at all.. he was a mindless killer, who killed both male and female alike. And Loomis didn't "finish the job" any more that Laurie did. After being shot, Michael got up again just as he did after being stabbed by Laurie with the coat hanger and walked away.

reply

He seemed straight. He seemed to have a weird obsession with his sister and female babysitters. Even if he was asexual, that would be woke. Asexuals are a minority, slightly higher than the transgender community. But, his asexuality is never really mentioned. But, why was he so obsessed with female babysitters if he was asexual?

Might have to re-evaluate John Carpenter's woke score.

reply

How many female babysitters did he kill? Or that's right, none. He tried to kill 1. In the first movie there was no concept that Laurie was his sister.

reply

The movie was supposed to be called, "The Babysitter Murders."

FACEPALM

Then there was this woke exchange with casual sexism thrown in by Brackett:

Sheriff Leigh Brackett:
A man wouldn't do that.

Dr. Sam Loomis:
This isn't a man.

Loomis also refers to Michael as "purely and simply evil." Maybe Michael is non-binary. Woke Loomis thought Michael wasn't a man. Michael never actually self-identified.

John Carpenter is packing a punch here.

This has to be a parody posting.

reply

Perhaps, but maybe not in the way you think it is.

reply

He had the blackest eyes. The devil's eyes.

MinorityRules15? STFU.

Be nice.

This is a bit off topic, but your post made me think of John Carpenter's movie the Thing and how it had 2 African American characters in it. And he hinted at one of them being a survivor at the end.

reply

So woke I can't even see anymore. *mind blown*

reply

I think you're looking at something a little too deep when no such meaning of that probably exists.

reply

Am I? Hmmmmm

I still think it would've been cool if Laurie shot (non-binary or cisgender) Michael.

reply

I bet John Carpenter would get a kick out of that.

reply

Get the fuck over yourself, ya pansy.

reply

I'm starting to get annoyed about seeing that word.
