Sheriff Brackett at the end

Was Sheriff Brackett originally intended to be more involved in the finale of the film? Loomis tells him he has found Michael’s car and he drives off but we don’t see him for the rest of the movie. Was he originally supposed to arrive to find the crime scene or meet Laurie and Loomis at the end?

reply

Bracket gets one of the best lines in the whole movie: “And if he is here...damn you for letting him out.”

reply

It's funny because Loomis didn't let him out.

"Two roadblocks and an all-points bulletin wouldn't stop a five-year old!"

reply

That always bugged me. Loomis did everything he could to keep him locked away. Why is he blaming him?

reply

Because it's easier to find someone to blame rather than think about the fact that it's possible prisoners can escape on their own, which is less comforting to think about than blaming someone. It's an irrational emotional overreaction.

Right after Bracket said that, Loomis responded, "I didn't let him out. I gave orders for him to be restrained." Loomis was just stating facts with no emotion.

reply

Exactly. A good example is Afghanistan. Biden blamed everyone but himself for that mess that will have repercussions for decades to come, not only there but here in America, where tens of thousands of Afghans are now unaccounted for, since they left the military bases on their own, no doubt hooking up with Muslim networks in America.

reply

Because Loomis represents the facility that failed in keeping him locked up.

reply

I don't think so. Loomis finds the car and tells him to check the back of the houses while he takes the front. Loomis just lucks out with Tommy and Lindsey screaming, and running out of the house.

reply

Sidha108, no, because the point of the climax was to emphasize that Dr. Loomis was the only person who had enough of a connection to and comprehension of his patient to stop Michael, at least in theory. He needed to rescue Laurie by himself and then be alone with the girl afterward in order to demonstrate the idea.

reply

Legend has it that Brackett is still driving around Haddonfield looking for Myers.
