Was it a mistake or was Bob (Linda's boyfriend) a pedophile?

"First I rip your clothes, then you rip my clothes off, then we rip Lindsey's clothes off!"
 Lindsey couldn't have been more than ten years old, if that!

reply

Bad joke made by a drunk teenage boy in the politically incorrect 1970s. No more, no less.

reply

I guess I thought maybe the actor made a mistake and meant to say Annie and it just slipped past, but I always found it creepy.

reply

excellent explanation.. sign of the times..

reply

Well he did die a painful death so justice was served?

reply

Was it a mistake or was Bob (Linda's boyfriend) a pedophile?

Neither.

He utters a line in bad taste while drunk/stoned to his drunk/stoned girlfriend.

And Darkness and Decay and the Red Death held illimitable dominion over all.

Yes. Yes he is. As a matter of fact Chris Hansen and a camera crew were waiting in the other room. Too bad Michael ruined it.

Don't call it a comeback. I've been here for years.

reply

Horrible line, that is obviously an issue for a lot of people as it's brought up like 5 times a year by different people.

reply

Too many people take it literal. It was a joke. No more no less.

Don't call it a comeback. I've been here for years.

I know this has been said before, but I find it laugable that in a movie that contains multiple murders people get up in arms about that line.

Pedophilia is a hot topic. Murderers in jail HATE pedophiles. They think they're the lowest of the low. What does that tell you?

Movie Theater: Young Frankenstein 10/10. RIP Gene Wilder. One of the funniest people of all time.

reply

Well if Bob actually was a pedophile, you'd have a point. Seeing that he isn't and it's just a joke and has been explained as such numerous times then what you just said is null and void.

Don't call it a comeback. I've been here for years.

reply

I don't buy the explanation. And obviously by numerous people bringing this topic up over and over again over the years, either do a lot of other people.

Movie Theater: Young Frankenstein 10/10. RIP Gene Wilder. One of the funniest people of all time.

reply

Well I don't care if you buy it or not. If you think Carpenter or whomever wrote that line intended it to be anything other than a joke then you're in need of help.

Was the joke in bad taste? Yes. But it was a joke. Teenagers, especially drunk ones, aren't known for their tact and Bob proved it in spades.

reply

It's not even just the line. His delivery is horrendous as well.

Movie Theater: Young Frankenstein 10/10. RIP Gene Wilder. One of the funniest people of all time.

reply

Blah blah blah. Had it been said in II you'd be saying how funny/awesome it is.

Let's not forget Bud's version of Amazing Grace. You're a religious fellow are you not? Are you not horrified by what he did to it? I'm sure if Bob fired off that little ditty you'd be complaining about that too.

reply

I don't care for your attitude, Barn. The line could've been said in Rocky and I would've hated it. You're weird sometimes. You think I hate stuff just cause it's in Halloween, but if the same line were in Halloween II, I would like it.
Couldn't be further from the truth. FYI, I love Halloween as well. Its not like despise it or anything. Amazing Grace is hilarious. No pedophilia there. And Leo Rossi is far and away a better actor than Graham, or whatever.

reply

You know why I think that way? Let me give you an example.

You: I hate it that you can see the wrench in Michael's hand. Horrible flub. Almost ruins the entire movie for me.

Me: what about the seven shots in II? That's a pretty bad flub. Does that bother you?

You: Not in the slightest. Simply don't count the shots.

You: Zombie's theory of coincidences almost ruining Halloween is correct. It nearly ruins it for me.

Me: what about this coincidence that occurs in II. Does it nearly ruin II for you?

You: We're not talking about II!!!!!

reply

I don't see the correlation. The wrench is clearly visible. You don't even have to pause it or zoom in or anything. It's right there. Plain as the nose in your face. Unless you're going "1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Hey, that was 7 shots!" Which most people probably aren't doing. So, that's null and void. And Zombie isn't allowed to have some points? He's right in a lot of ways. His movies are still crap compared, but that doesn't make him wrong. You're welcome.

Movie Theater: Young Frankenstein 10/10. RIP Gene Wilder. One of the funniest people of all time.

reply

The 7 shots are still there, and someone had to count them or else the flub would be unknown. Try again.

The wrench, while it wasn't meant to be seen(see unlike you, I can admit when there is a flub) it was there for a purpose. It was meant to break the glass. What purpose did the seventh shot serve? Why was it put in there? Somebody screwed up. Maybe the person who dubbed it in was having a beer with Carpenter at the time.

I never said he couldn't have his points. All I said was that you agreed with him and when I brought up a coincidence that happened in II you lost your $hit because I was talking about II. The fact of the matter was I wasn't even attacking II. I was asking you a simple question and you got all defensive and pissy about it. So no YOU'RE welcome.

Don't call it a comeback. I've been here for years.

reply

Yeah, one idiot counted the shots, and ruined it for you and others who it's ruined for. Obviously, the extra shot is an editing issue. Two different angles, one shot was in the alternate angle, bada bing! 7. Well, leave II out of it, when we're discussing the original. Simple. His remarks on the original are spot on.

Movie Theater: Young Frankenstein 10/10. RIP Gene Wilder. One of the funniest people of all time.

reply

Obviously, the extra shot is an editing issue.

Yes it is an editing issue, but an issue nonetheless

His remarks on the original are spot on.

And my remarks on II is spot on. There are coincidences in that movie as well. Someone brought up a coincidence that occurred in his version of Halloween. You can look at any movie and find them.

Well, leave II out of it, when we're discussing the original.

What was that you said to Simest and I the other day? Oh yeah, it was, "I'll do what I want." Well, sorry if you don't like it, but "I'll do what I want."

Don't call it a comeback. I've been here for years.

reply

And that's why we butt heads. I have a serious question for you here, Barn. Now you and I are mostly at odds, but we've gotten along on a rare occasion, when you're not being a jerk. Whereas, mostly Sim and I get along swimmingly, usually, but when we have dustups, they're HUGE, which explains why I have him on ignore now. Now my question is, why do you think, I don't have you on ignore yet? Certainly, you deserve it. So why haven't I put you in ignore yet, you think?

Movie Theater: Young Frankenstein 10/10. RIP Gene Wilder. One of the funniest people of all time.

reply

And that's why we butt heads.

Why do we butt heads?

So why haven't I put you in ignore yet, you think?

How can I answer that? I'm not a mind reader. That's for you to answer, not me.

Don't call it a comeback. I've been here for years.

reply

To answer your question, because you always say the opposite of whatever I say. We never agree on anytbing as evidenced in Yankees/Red Sox thing. You didn't answer my question, however, and now you're on ignore my friend. It's been grand.

It was definitely in poor taste but he was clearly joking. He did kind of look like a stereotypical pedophile though.
