AMC

The Walking Dead on all day, really AMC? So lame.

It's their cash cow, and one of the biggest shows on tv. Can you blame them?

Might as well as change their name to TWD

reply

You gotta be kidding me, The Walking Dead is on all day again. Terrible programming decisions this October. Syfy and Chiller have crapped the bed too. Play the classics!

reply

You know why that is, don't you? Thanks to Fear the Walking Dead pushing TWD back to October. Before FTWD the main show premiered much sooner. Even the mid season splits didn't interfere with FearFest that much. But given the hype of Season 7's main character killing reveal and the fact that TWD is more of a cash cow and a ratings/advertising grabber than old horror films (which anyone can pop in the DVD or Blu Ray) it was a business decision.

Not a fan interest decision, but money. Plain and simple.

You are 100? Right, We want Halloween/Friday/Nightmare/ TCM and what do we get The walking dead? *beep* TGAT it's Halloween, we want real horror

reply

Good thing we have dvds, and Netflix, and such, huh?

reply

I don't watch the Walking Dead, but yea I see its the premier tonight, so that makes sense. But still disappointed in the lack of the classic horror films on TV so far this October.

reply

The premiere has come and gone so finally AMC can get back to showing horror films this week!

AMC knows they have a major hit with TWD which is why they air those marathons every chance they get. It's just a shame it coincides with Fearfest/Halloween.

My sister watches the Walking Dead. She was enthralled last evening.

Bummer, I was looking forward to watching movies I already own cut to ribbons and crammed chock full of loud, irrelevant commercials on a channel I don't have.

But seriously, what's the appeal anymore? I could understand if they would play the films uncut. I haven't willingly sat through a heavily cut film on TV since I was a teenager and I didn't have money to buy/rent every movie I wanted to watch and streaming didn't exist yet. Nowadays, it just feels redundant. Why *would* AMC air anything but their cash-cow on Halloween?

Anyone here mentions Hotel California dies before the first line clears his lips.

reply

I watch The Walking Dead as well. I have since the beginning, but I still find it annoying how it takes over Fearfest especially in recent years.

Lots of people still enjoy watching Fearfest and the Halloween marathons even though they are heavily edited. Something about watching these movies knowing there are others watching it at the same time. Plus I don't own all the Halloween movies (like 2-H2O) so watching them on AMC is usually the only time I do watch them. Besides it's just for Halloween, it adds to the holiday. 

No. I agree with Minus on this one. It's pointless watching movies on tv nowadays. For the reasons Minus mentioned. Lady, you own only the original Halloween and Resurrection?

Well they do that with all their shows on the day the new season starts. But AMC is showing Halloween & sequels this weekend. They are one of they very few who do show it. I just laid into Syfy for showing the same crap "horror" movies over & over again all October(and they promote 31 days of Halloween October).

reply

Yeah I didn't like they were doing a TWD marathon. I do get why they did it though. With the big hype to the conclusion of the "Who Did Negan Kill?" angle, it's a no brainer they were going to do marathons for the show. Like someone else said it's their cash cow so I can't blame them.

That being said though, if you are going to do marathons of TWD, just begin Fearfest on the 1st of October and do it the entire month. U can use TWD & FTWD in the marathon and still do a full month. That would also allow AMC Network to do more marathons of more movies as well. Bring back some of the older movies like Frankenstein and also say the month is so big they had to expand the lineup to fit everything in you know? Then if you want to do marathons of TWD it doesn't take as much time away from showing marathons of stuff like Halloween, Friday The 13th, A Nightmare On Elm Street and others.

There's too many commercials on AMC anyway. Who needs it?
