When Tommy is looking out the window...

...and see's Michael standing in the yard across the street, do you think Michael was looking back at Tommy? It's almost impossible to tell because the house is lit up behind him, making him appear as nothing more than a silhouette. At first I thought he was looking in on Annie, but the kitchen was in the rear of the house.

Yes.

Absolutely and it's bone chilling. One of the most frightening things about Michael is his sense of timing and his need to unnerve you before he strikes. Look out the window out of boredom and he's standing there looking right at you. It's terrifying when you think he's been out there this whole time contemplating what he's going to do to you and when to make his move while you've been going about your business normally.

I always thought he was looking at the Wallace house. But I could be wrong. Distance and silhouette as you said, it's hard to tell where he was facing. That was Debra Hill in that shot, BTW. The Shape shrunk.

And it was Debra Hill in that scene

Which brings me to another funny thought. No one says anything when Myers is around town in broad daylight doing that but on Halloween night Tommy thinks something is weird about a guy standing by a house.

reply

Yes, because like Laurie, most people outgrew superstition. No one thinks twice about someone walking around in a Halloween mask on Halloween even in the daytime. Hell, some jobs even do it. People go out in public dressed up to shop. Just the way it is. Had those kids not teased Tommy about the Boogeyman coming to get him, scaring him and ultimately making him aware and on guard about it, he probably wouldn't have noticed or cared until he saw Michael carrying Annie's body.

It's not noted in the goofs, but when he first looks out the window the porch light is on where The Shape us standing. When Laurie comes over to look thr porch light is suddenly off. Isn't that right?

reply

Didn't know that was Debra Hill, interesting bit of trivia

reply

I thought that was relatively common knowledge, Return.
