He wasn't a nerd. He was a hippie. A hippie with beer. The beer is what brought Lynda to Bob's yard. In the remake, he was lucky she let him touch her with that thing. Makes perfect sense. Even today, beautiful women, not just cheerleaders or teenagers are with the wrong guy for the wrong reasons or not the logical reason. Sex, booze, money, all are reasons behind this. Some guys have all the luck.

I'll bet Bob and Linda were sloppy drunk/stoned every Friday/Saturday. They would have been fun to hang out with until Laurie got there to be the voice of reason.

I don't know what version you watched but Bob was quite hunky for a 70s guy. Nice build, not a bad face, and apparently knows what he's doing in bed. Who cares if he has defective vision. Like people with compromised eyesight can't be hot?

If it had been Dennis Quaid as planned, PJ's real life boyfriend, we wouldn't be having this conversation. As it is, apparently Bob's vision got better or he wears contacts, as recent video of the actor shows he no longer needs them and aged well.

Agree with recklesscow, Bob was NOT a bad looking guy whatsoever. And as for him looking nerdy...it was the 70's...go look at a year book from that era...they ALL looked like nerds, but that doesn't mean they were.

I agree too. Bob in the original wasn't that bad. The remake, however, was different. I don't see that version of Bob getting anywhere near Lynda.

Funny I sat down and forced myself to watch those remakes this past Halloween season and I don't even remember what Bob looked like in those, that's how memorable those movies are.
