top 5 horror icons of the last 50 years?

if you were to compile a list of the top 5 horror icons of the last 50 years (which means about 1967 until present day) who would they be? for the sake of argument i am only considering those from the 70s onward which was the decade where modern horror came to prominence. when compiling the list try not to use your personal preferences to make you biased, and really think about what the general consensus would be, or who has permeated the culture the most.

for example halloween is probably my favorite horror franchise as a whole but when considering only the villain himself, i think freddy krueger takes the number 1 spot

but my top 5 would be;

1) freddy krueger
2) jason voorhees
3) michael myers
4) leatherface
5) chucky/pinhead (tied, i truly cannot pick between these 2....i think chucky might have a slight edge in popularity if you were asking a general public but i personally prefer pinhead).

honorable mentions to regan, ash, carrie, ghostface

thoughts?

i thought about including regan but i think she is only known to an older audience. the franchise didnt take off like the others and i dont think people under 25 would even know who she is.
