There's something almost... allegorical... about this movie...

I can't put my finger on what exactly this refers to, I mean, the filmmakers were being so subtle. The whole thing about the windowed first lady of an assassinated U.S. president marrying a randy old Greek shipping tycoon... J.B. Fletcher herself couldn't figure out what this whole thing was referring to.

This movie is about as subtle as a kick in the head. If you like baudy retellings of real events done with fake names in order to escape lawsuits, this movie is right down your alley. I, for one, loved it.

I don't think this movie worked very hard at disguising the story it was trying to tell and anyone who didn't know who this story was really about had apparently been living under a rock for the 10 years before this film was released.

If you don't know this movie is about Aristole Onassis and Jackie Kennedy (both of whom are dead so why not just say it now) you must be Generation XYZ.

What I don't understand is since both are public figures, how could either control any story made about them? When this one was made, Onassis was dead, his daughter wasn't even portrayed in the movie, neither were Jackie's kids. They could have used some type of disclaimer about sources used not from actual people but from historical records.

As an aside, both Aristole Onassis and Jackie Kennedy Onasiss only sons were killed in plane crashes where they were the pilot. Coincidence or conspiracy? (sarcasm here).

The original poster was being sarcastic, too.

The Greek Tycoon doesn't rise to anywhere near the level of allegory. When a novel is about real persons and events thinly disguised as fiction, it's called a roman à clef. So this is a film à clef.

All the universe . . . or nothingness. Which shall it be, Passworthy? Which shall it be?
